Mission Statement
We
at the Avondale Presbyterian Church believe our mission is to:
* Express faith in Jesus Christ
as we relate to the needs of individual brothers and sisters, the community,
the nation, and the world as we help spread the message of Hope, Good
News and Salvation.
*
To provide a direct contact, name and face out in the mission field.
*
Continuously strive to provide a link that allows our congregation to get a
better understanding of what missions we support, allow a greater percentage
of funds to be used directly by those we are ministering to and generate more
excitement in His mission work.
Our congregation warmly welcomes the
opportunity to visit with our missionaries, listen to their testimonies, share
in their experiences and the work they are accomplishing in the name of our
Lord.
As a congregation, we pledge
twenty percent of our annual budget to support our missions.

Corey Beattie, 19, was critically injured in a car accident in
October 2010 and after months of physical and occupational therapy is gradually
regaining strength. As a senior in high school Corey had hoped to attend Johnson
& Wales Culinary Arts School upon graduation. The car accident has changed her
life dramatically, but Corey still has a keen interest in culinary cuisine.
Part of her ongoing therapy includes cooking! On Mondays, with the help of her
mother Marie, therapist Brittney and teacher Christa, Corey prepares meals such
as pork tenderloin with potatoes au gratin and rosemary chicken and
rice. About ten meals a week are then sent to local churches for distribution
by Meals on Wheels.

Tamani Kenya, a small orphanage in Nairobi Kenya operated by James and Truphena
Wanjala. Through this effort more than 30 children are cared for in a loving
environment where God is the center of daily life. Tamani Kenya strives to
provide for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of these children who
have experienced such loss and hardship. The goal is to develop each child to
his full potential by also providing an education.
